Toboggan fun for all
How about a fun toboggan ride? On Katschberg you can toboggan by day as well as by night. The toboggan run is 1.5 km long and leads from the Gamskogelhütte to the Stamperl and the ascent takes about 40 minutes. After warming up, toboggans (for a fee) are at your disposal to take you back down the mountain. Do not hesitate to ask us about the night toboggan times during your stay at Das KATSCHBERG on the Katschberghöhe.

Winter hikes
Hike through the snow-covered landscape on 30 km of winter hiking trails, with different degrees of difficulty, to reach idyllic valleys like Pöllatal or panoramic viewpoints like Aineck.
Advent Highlight – the Katschberg Advent trail: high up in the mountains, means untouched nature, you can expect Advent magic far away from kitsch & commerce – the Katschberg Advent trail. A 6.8 km hiking loop at 1,750 meters above sea level in the snow-covered Gontal. Lovingly restored hay barns take you into a very special Advent world. You will be enchanted.
Snowshoe hiking on Katschberg
Trudging through the snow like a yeti in giant boots - snowshoeing is a special way to explore the winter landscape. Hike light as a feather over fresh fields of deep snow and walk through the snow-covered forest as if you were walking on clouds. A fascinating experience for young and old!

Horse drawn sleigh rides through the snow covered landscape
Do not miss this romantic experience. Noriker horses comfortably pull the horse-drawn carriages from Katschberg to the Pritzhütte in the Gontal. Wrapped in warm blankets, the lovely and solid horses trot through the unique winter landscape.

Ski tours through the mountains and valleys
More and more people are attracted by the snow-covered mountains away from the slopes. There are wonderful ski touring routes around the Katschberg, such as to the Tschaneck or, for real mountain fans, further to the Kareck at 2,481 m! The mountain railways in the Lungau holiday region also offer floodlit evening ski tours. So what are you waiting for - let's go on the tour!
Eachtlingrunde:
Approx. 1.5 km below our hotel is the start of the Eachtling circuit, which you can reach from the hotel via the Königswiese. The Eachtling circuit leads around the Tschaneck to the Tschaneck mountain station. From there you can ski back down to the Katschberghöhe. You can find more information about the route here.
Nockberge Trail:
The Nockberge Trail is a special tour experience. This starts directly on the Katschberghöhe and leads to Bad Kleinkirchheim in four daily stages. You can find more information here.
Ski tour Aineck to the Branntweiner Alm or Kösslbacher Alm:
Another tour is to ascend in St. Margarethen in the Leisnitzgraben. This route leads along the Leisnitzbach and then on towards the Kösselbacher and Branntweineralm. From there, take the piste back down to the valley.
Moonlight tour from the Sonnenbahn valley station (St. Michael) to the Peterbaueralm:
Every Friday from 17.00-20.30 you can hike up to the Peterbaueralm from St. Michael. You can find more information here.
